Exactly how is IT done? And what are we doing?
Since the early 1990s, most engines have been controlled by an on-board
computer, the Engine Control Unit or ECU, which among other functions,
defines the ignition timing, fuel pressure and boost pressure for all
given engine speeds and loads.
After extensive development and testing, we arrive at the optimised
settings for your make and model of vehicle, ensuring that each SPP
modified chip is as individual as the software inside your ECU, safely
eliminating those ‘performance compromises'.
In most cases this remapped programme is installed electronically and
remotely through the car's diagnostic port. There's no replacement chip,
and we don't touch the ECU itself.
We only optimise the mapping of ECU.
* We always test your vehicle before handing it back for you to enjoy,
just to make sure everything is operating as it should be.
What will Swiss Car Vision do for my car?
SCV has a unique range of tuning upgrades for most modern petrol engines
(turbo and non-turbo) and turbo-diesels.
Our trained engineers work on a broad range of engines and we have
technical experts for all leading makes of vehicles.
We've chosen to work across the spectrum of engines; doing so keeps SCV
up-to-date with the latest developments from each manufacturer.
Ultimately, our wide-ranging and unrivalled experience delivers the best
solution for your car.
Every chip SCV
optimisation will deliver:
• An engine that responds more eagerly to your right foot
• Smoother power delivery making town driving easier with fewer gear
changes
• Improved acceleration for safer over-taking
For non-turbo petrol cars
• Up to 10% more power
• Enhanced throttle response
For turbocharged petrol cars
•
Up to 30% more power
• Up to 35% more midrange torque
*SPP carefully matches increases in turbo boost pressure with the
remapped ignition timing and
fuel settings. It doesn't affect the reliability or life of the
engine. We know – we multiple years experience in enhancing the
performance of turbocharged engines.
For turbo-diesel cars
•
Up to 35% more torque and more power
• Fuel economy improvements
Here too, we
deliver a smoother, enhanced drive by ensuring our remap matches the
fuelling to the increases in boost pressure.
FAQ
What is ECU Tuning?
Modern engines are controlled today with a "computer" (ECU).
All important data (parameters) as for example: injected fuel
quantity, load pressure, ignition etc. are controlled and supervised by
that unit. Specific software is responsible for the adherence to these
parameters. This software was developed and programmed by the
manufacturer.
ECU
tuning is simple to understand as it is the process of optimising the
current settings / mapping of your cars on engine.
We’ve seen our share of customers who, after the installation of a
supposedly great and inexpensive chip, are greatly disappointed with the
results that can range from significantly increased consumption due to a
poorly tuned engine to a distinct loss in performance.
Our ECU optimisation
eliminates the risk of this happening.
Examining these chips
on a regular basis, we see some of the most adventuresome engine
configurations. We emphatically warn potential customers about the risks
of unprofessional chip installation. Even supposed copies of original
chips offer no guarantee of sound functioning!
What’s the process of the
actual tuning?
Once we have your car, we will do a Dyno-Run first, to see what the
accurate power output is and to check if everything is ok with the
vehicle. After the Dyno-run the ‘map’ (software the car is running on)
is downloaded from the ECU.
After that we send the downloaded settings to our ECU programmer which
makes the adjustments of the map’s parameter according to your
requirements. After 1-2 hours we have the updated file and we uploaded
into the car’s ECU again.
Next step is a test drive with the car of minimum 50km to see if
everything works fine. The entire tuning process takes approximately 3-4
hours
Is the life span of the engine
affected?
The car tuning is
adjusted in a way so that it does not exceed any of the car limits, and
your car maintains its original lifetime
What about fuel consumption?
This depends on the driving style. The optimal adjustment and the
increased torque normally cause reduction of fuel consumption up to 15
%.
Is the optimization removable
again?
Yes, on customer's request a re-equipment is at any time possible.
Does the dealer/agent see an
error during the car diagnosis?
No, your car dealer cannot determine a software modification with his
equipment, since the stock program is used to develop the upgrade. All
engine characteristics are original.
Does the ECU optimisation
affect the service intervals?
No, the service interval remains the same as before the ECU optimization
was done.
Must I modify the brakes or the
chassis?
The performance optimizations are co-ordinated in such way by us, that
no further changes are necessary.
